About: Dynamic Placeholders empower users to create versatile placeholders in their rundowns. These placeholders can be seamlessly replaced with assets through drag-and-drop or SFTP and media uploads with matching names, simplifying content integration and streamlining your workflow.
Create a placeholder
- Select New placeholder in the library menu.
Configure the placeholder:
-
Title: This is the name of the placeholder element in the library and playlist.
-
Filling asset: This name will be used for matching with uploaded files for automatic replacement. In case this is left empty, the placeholder can be used with drag and drop of a library item.
Its also possible to work with wildcard * symbol for the filling asset match. So something like myasset* would match for all files that start with myasset like e.g. myasset12345.mxf. You can also use multiple wildcard * symbols. So e.g. myasset*test*.mp4 would look for a files that starts with myasset, has test in the middle and ends with .mp4.
If more than 1 asset matches with the filling asset sting, the newest asset is taken.
Title behaviour when replaced
- Use only the title specified above: Will display the title that is specified by the user in the playlist after replacement.
- Use only the filling asset name: Will display the asset name of the filling asset in the playlist after replacement.
-
Combine title with asset name: Both asset name and specified title will be displayed in the playlist after replacement.
Insert filling asset
- as soon as the asset is found: The placeholder will be replaced with the filling asset as soon as the asset is detected on the system.
- Insert filling asset x hours before placeholder starts: The system will look for the filling asset and replace the placeholder at the specified time before the placeholder starts playing.
- Insert filling asset only by manual replacement via drag & drop.
10. Length: The length is the reserved time the placeholder will take in the playlist. When being replaced the length will be adjusted to the filling asset.
Using the placeholder
- In the placeholder folder, drag and drop it in the rundown.
- Upload a file with the corresponding name for automatic replacement or drag and drop a library item on the placeholder for manual replacement.
Live streams are supported for drag & drop from - When the placeholder gets replaced, the length will be adjusted to the filling asset and the following items in the rundown will be moved (until the next locked item).
Hint: Assets for placeholder replacement can be uploaded via SFTP, Media Uploader or Connected Cloud Storage such as Amazon S3, Google Drive, Dropbox, and more.
