Overview
Edge Devices enable you to link external vendor devices to the LTN Network via SRT. Supported manufacturers include Appear, Ateme, Harmonic, MediaKind, Sencore, and Synamedia. Once configured, these connectors work in bookings exactly like native LTN SRT connectors, with full support for redundancy models including Failover and HITLESS.
Accessing Edge Devices
This feature is accessed through the Bookings > Connector Tab in the LTN Portal.
- Navigate to the Bookings section and open the Connector Tab
- Manufacturer-specific tabs, such as Appear, Ateme, Harmonic, MediaKind, Sencore, and Synamedia, display all connectors configured for that manufacturer
- Click the Edge Devices tab to view all connectors, regardless of manufacturer.
Connector Field Reference
- Name: The customer-provided name for this connector
- Redundancy: The redundancy model, options are: None, Failover, or HITLESS_2002_7
- Protocol: The connection protocol, currently only SRT is supported
- Primary Connector: The primary SRT connector used when configuring a booking
- Primary Endpoint: The leaf ID the connector is associated with when booked
- Secondary Connector: The backup connector object used when Failover or Hitless is selected as the redundancy protocol
- Secondary Endpoint: The leaf ID the secondary connector is associated with when booked
- Entitlement ID: An identifier provided to the edge device to allow it to authenticate with the LTN Edge Device API
Create a New Connector
- Click "New Connector" and select the manufacturer of your edge device from the dropdown
- In the top section, enter the Name, select a Redundancy mode, and select the Protocol
- Hint: Currently only SRT is available.
- For the Primary SRT, and Secondary SRT if applicable, enter the Latency and Stream ID values if required (these could be optional)
- A pop-up will appear allowing you to retrieve the auto-generated password, if you chose to allow the password to be auto-generated. From here, either copy the password or download it as a text file
-
Attention: Once you close this pop-up, you will not be able to retrieve the password again. Make sure to save it before closing.
-
Attention: Once you close this pop-up, you will not be able to retrieve the password again. Make sure to save it before closing.
- After closing the pop-up, you will be returned to the main page where you can copy the Entitlement ID.
- Provide the Entitlement ID and password to the edge device vendor to complete the integration
Initial Device Setup (IRD Workflow)
Once you have created a connector and received your Entitlement ID and password, complete the setup directly on your IRD device:
- Enter the Entitlement ID and password on the IRD device
- Return to the LTN Portal and create a booking, selecting the IRD Connector as part of the configuration
- Once the booking is active, the IRD device will establish the SRT connection automatically
Configuration Changes
Attention: If you modify a connector's configuration after initial setup, the active SRT connection will be interrupted. Your IRD device will re-establish the connection automatically once it detects the change.
