About: Transcoded outputs allow signal distribution to multiple destinations at once using up to three different transcoding qualities and an optional PNG overlay. You will mostly use transcoded outputs for publishing content on YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, and other platforms or simply normalizing signals prior to downstream processing.

Configure a transcoded output
The configuration of transcoded outputs consists of five sections:
- General & qualities
- Stream mapping (optional)
- Overlay
- Failover (optional)
- Resource locations
- Destinations
1. General & qualities
- Type in a name that will be used as a unique identifier across your Live Video Cloud team.
- Select a transcoding profile including a 1 sec, 2 sec, or 2 sec GOP size.
- Select a frame rate.
- Select the field order.
- (Optional) Enable and set a fixed buffer or keep the default value.
→ Learn more about how fixed buffers behave and when to use them.
Qualities
Enable and configure up to three qualities based on resolution, video, and audio bitrate.
Main (High)
The main quality is always enabled and must be configured.
- Select a video resolution from 1920 x 1080 to 426 x 240 px.
- Select a video bitrate between 0.1 and 20 Mbit/s. The default is 10 Mbit/s.
- Select an audio bitrate from 320 kbit/s with 48 kHz stereo to 64 kbit/s with 48 kHz stereo.
Sub-1 (Medium)
Enabling and configuring this quality is optional.
- (Optional) Enable the quality.
- Select a video resolution from 1280 x 720 to 426 x 240 px.
- Select a video bitrate between 0.1 and 20 Mbit/s. The default is 5.0 Mbit/s.
- Select an audio bitrate from 320 kbit/s with 48 kHz stereo to 64 kbit/s with 48 kHz stereo.
Sub-2 (Low)
Enabling and configuring this quality is optional.
- (Optional) Enable the quality.
- Select a video resolution from 854 x 480 to 426 x 240 px.
- Select a video bitrate between 0.1 and 20 Mbit/s. The default is 2.5 Mbit/s.
- Select an audio bitrate from 320 kbit/s with 48 kHz stereo to 64 kbit/s with 48 kHz stereo.

2. Stream mapping
Configuring stream mapping is optional.
Stream mapping allows removing or reassigning packetized elementary streams of a routed MUX to specific PIDs.
- Click on "Stream Mapping".
- Enable stream mapping.
Follow the instructions in the stream mapping guide:
→ Learn more about how to configure stream mappings.
3. Overlay
Configuring an overlay is optional. Live Video Cloud supports the following overlay types:
- No Overlay: Disable any overlay rendering for the output and reset any existing configuration.
- Image: Upload one image per configured and enabled quality to be used as a static graphical overlay.
- Website: Enter a website URL for all configured and enabled qualities to be used as a dynamic HTML5 overlay.
Image
Upload one image per configured and enabled quality to be used as a static graphical overlay.
- Click on "Overlay".
- Select "Image".
- Enable/disable the use of an overlay graphic. If disabled, any provided image will be ignored and not included in the outgoing signal for the respective quality.
- Upload one image per quality. Images must not be larger than 10 MB and must not exceed the resolution of the respective quality.
- Position the image on the horizontal and vertical axis by entering pixel coordinates. The top left corner has the coordinates x=0 and y=0.
- (Optional) Align the position of the overlay with one of the frame edges or center axis. Clicking one of the provided buttons will automatically fill the position/coordinate fields.
- Preview the image on one of the four backgrounds: transparent, white, black, routed signal. The “Routed signal” background is only available if the output runs and a signal is routed to it.
Click the “Create” or ”Save Changes” button in the bottom right corner.
Website
Enter a website URL for all configured and enabled qualities to be used as a dynamic HTML5 overlay. The website content will be rendered using the highest enabled quality resolution. A control section becomes available on the output page if the website overlay is configured.
→ Learn how to monitor outputs.
- Click on "Overlay".
- Select “Website”.
- Enter the website URL.
- Refresh the preview of the website URL. This will not directly affect your running output until you save the dialog. Close the dialog if you do not want to refresh the connection between Live Video Cloud and your website source.
- Preview the website on one of the four backgrounds: transparent, white, black, routed signal. The “Routed signal” background is only available if the output runs and a signal is routed to it.
- Enable/disable the use of a website overlay. If disabled, any provided website overlay will be ignored and not included in the outgoing signal for the respective quality.
4. Failover
The Failover strategy is used if the output is online, but no signal is routed to it, or the routed signal is unstable. A system default acts as a fallback if a custom source is unavailable. The default is "Black & Silence", which means black and muted audio will be sent.
- Click on "Failover".
- Select the failover strategy.
→ Learn more about failover strategies.
5. Resource locations
Resource locations are pull-destinations that come with any output by default. They are mostly pre-configured and ready to use. Decide which resource locations should be enabled/disabled when starting your output. Resource locations can be enabled/disabled while an output is running.
- Click on "Resource Locations".
- Enable/disable resource locations.
Check the following guides to learn how to configure specific resource locations:
6. Destinations
Create up to 10 destinations per output and decide which should be enabled/disabled when starting the output. Destinations can be enabled/disabled while an output is running.
- Click on "Destinations".
- Click "Add Destination" and select the destination type you want to use.
Check the following guides to learn more about the configuration of specific destinations:
Click the “Create” or ”Save Changes” button in the bottom right corner.
